Its leaves are bronze when young, turning yellow and crimson in autumn. Densely double white flowers in mid-season in April/May. Its fruit of small red berries are not poisonous, but are not edible. They will however provide a feast for birds in early summer.

The expected growth rate is 0.5m per year. Growing to 8m after 10 years, 14m after 20 years.
