It can have a basel diameter of 35 feet and bark up to 4ft thick - making it the largest tree on Earth.</p> <p>The Sequoia (also known as the Sierra Redwood) is native to the Redwood forests of California. It occurs in scattered groves across a limited area of the western Sierra Nevada. It is believed that the Giant Sequoias were named after the famous American Indian Sequoyah. </p> <p>Sequoia bark is fibrous and furrowed.
