Wild Cherry 1£6.99£6.992831601ProductBIGTREES00.0000British NativesBroadleafWild Cherry0       -1-100      0 GBT0031 Tasty fruit & show of flowers in spring<p>These small deciduous trees prefer fertile clay soils over chalk and are a common component in beech woods. <b>Wild Cherry</b> spreads over most of the British Isles and throughout Europe, with the exception of Scotland.</p> <p> - When well grown and canker free it provides a valuable timber more quickly than any other broadleaved tree. <br /><br /> - It’s timber is used for furniture as it has a hard, fine grained, red-brown wood which will polish up to a deep, shiny brown colour.<br /><br /> - Maximum height 60ft (20m).<br /><br /> - They can age up to 200 years </p> <p>The Wild Cherry grows with a straight trunk and a rounded crown. </p> <p>Its leaves are bronze when young, turning yellow and crimson in autumn. Densely double white flowers in mid-season in April/May. Its fruit of small red berries are not poisonous, but are not edible. They will however provide a feast for birds in early summer.</p> <p>The expected growth rate is 0.5m per year.
